WELCOME
The community near the University of Illinois at Chicago is really four
distinct communities, all with different histories, characteristics, urban advantages and challenges. When viewed collectively, these four communities of Tri Taylor, Little Italy, Roosevelt Square and
University Village & Commons have among the most interesting, complex and controversial histories in the CIty of Chicago.
The community area is roughly bounded by Western Avenue on the west,
the Eisenhower Expressway on the north, the Dan Ryan Expressway on
the east and 16th Street on the south. Our neighbors to our south and north are the communities of Pilsen and the West Loop.
From professionals who work downtown, to those employed at the University of Illinois at Chicago or one of the nearby medical centers, to
a small number of people whose families have been in this community for three or four generations, we are a diverse, exciting and growing community with tremendous intellectual capital and energy, just a short
walk or bike ride from downtown Chicago, well served by public transit
and public primary education, with additional nearby options of excellent private primary and secondary education.
