and specialty stores which have opened on both Maxwell Street and Halsted

StreetRoosevelt Road.  Barbara's Bookstore, Lush Wine and Spirits, Lissa on

Maxwell and the Gourmet Clothing Co. are but a few of the exciting stores in this

pedestrian-friendly area. South Halsted Street has also historically been home to a

number of artists who often live and work in their gallery spaces. Gallery walks are

often scheduled on weekend evenings and after touring cutting-edge art galleries,

patrons can visit one of several restaurants and upscale bars also located on South Halsted Street.

For every day shopping needs, the Roosevelt Road corridor has become home to a

wide variety of big box retail stores and large grocery stores.  Whole Foods, Jewel

and Dominick's can all be found on Roosevelt Road.  Home Depot, Bed Bath &

Beyond, Best Buy and Radio Shack are among the large retailers that have also

located in this corridor.  Target is located on Roosevelt Road and Clark Street just a

short drive away.

Taylor Streets normally evokes images of food in the minds of most people, but a

number of smaller retailers have also made this exciting street their home.  Gentile's

Wine Shop, Capri Dolce, an edgy clothing store, and Zia 925, a personal accessories

boutique, are just some of the options now available for shopping on Taylor Street.
